Privacy

The essentials: if you have supplied us with an email address, we keep it, and if you have made a purchase we retain your order details. We never sell data to anyone.

What we collect

If you only browse: routine server logs are kept by our hosting provider. When advertisements are running, a tracking pixel may register your visit, which stops us from paying to show the same promotion to someone who has already bought the book. For visitors in the EU, the UK, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Switzerland, the pixel only becomes active once you click Allow on the banner. In all other locations, it activates on your first visit without any banner, and the option to disable it can be found on this page.

If you request the sample or sign up to the mailing list: we take your email address and nothing else.

If you place an order: we record your name, email, payment confirmation and, for print copies, the shipping address. That address goes to the printer so the book can be sent to you.

Your full card details never reach us. Those are handled entirely by the payment processor.

Who else handles your data

Our checkout and payment provider, our print-on-demand supplier for physical orders only, our email service and our web host. Each receives the minimum information required to perform their role, and no more.

Retention periods

Order records are kept for as long as required by tax regulations. Email addresses remain until you opt out of the list, at which point they are erased rather than merely blocked.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may request a copy of the information we store about you, ask for corrections, or ask for its removal. Contact us by email and we will respond within a month, normally within a day.

Cookies

We use Plausible, a privacy-focused analytics tool hosted on our own server, to track visits and clicks to Amazon and our checkout. It places no cookies and does not track you across other sites.

Our site sets no cookies of its own. If advertising is active, the advertising pixel does install one. In the EU, the UK, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland, we request permission before it runs. Elsewhere, it runs from your first visit, and you can disable it at any time here: disable the advertising pixel.
